What’s more incredible than a DIY destination wedding in the desert, surrounded by Joshua Trees at a rustic and super funky ranch location? The bride wearing a beautiful gold dress by Sarah Seven, and that bride being one of my closest friends. This wedding was special and dear to my heart because in addition to me photographing the wedding, my 2-year-old daughter participated as a flower girl (but since there was no traditional wedding party, the children walking down the aisle were called the “cute gaggle of kids”), and I switched roles from photographer to guest and gave one of the toasts! Thanks so much to Jenna and Steven Coy of Flutterglass Photography for helping me out tremendously by partnering up with me and taking so many wonderful photos. They finished up the night photographing and captured the beautiful sunset portraits and the great moments during the toasts. The Rim Rock Ranchlocation was tremendously unique and provided a great set for all of the DIY details and decorations. Everything was handmade from the dyed coffee filter garlands, the homemade Smores complete with the J and B initials, the flower and succulent center pieces and to the blood orange cocktails juiced painstakingly by family members. I was impressed! If only photos were able to show how touching the vows were and how amazing all the other toasters were! Enjoy!
Hello. We are Justin Runquist and Kristy Walker. In 2007 we transitioned from newspaper photojournalists to wedding photojournalists, and formed Studio Verite Photography. We traded our boots and cargo pants for dress shoes and suits. We once trained our lenses on dramatic news scenes, politicians, and sports stars. Now we chronicle the beauty, happiness, and hilarity that condenses itself in a wedding day. And although the subject matter has changed, the importance of making photos that are beautiful, revealing, telling, and evocative remains. Since 2007 we have photographed hundreds of couple's weddings and engagements.
The term vérité is French for "truth." It's our goal to make photographs with truthful and honest character that also possess a distinct style and vision.
Our goal is to capture the whole and unique story of each individual wedding day. Our task is simple. We want to have fun, capture wonderful and real moments, and provide you with a wonderful portfolio of wedding images, that tells the story of your day. At the end of the day we want you to feel that having us around was as easy as hanging out with a friend - who happened to deliver the best photos you could have possibly imagined.
Over the past decade as newspaper photojournalists turned wedding photographers, our work has brought us to plan and execute photo shoots in Mexico, India, Argentina, Poland and throughout the US.
Our images have been awarded and acknowledged by the WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) and Brides Magazine and their wedding photography have been featured on Style Me Pretty, and the pages of InStyle Magazine, Free People blog.
